En un año en el que la Asociación BSOSpirit comienza su colaboración con el Festival de Málaga, y específicamente con su nuevo e ilusionante proyecto, el Movie Score Malaga – MOSMA, se nos planteaban varios retos a conseguir. Primero, dotar a los premios de la proyección que siempre hemos querido para ellos. Y Málaga es el sitio perfecto, gracias a la capacidad organizativa y experiencia de un equipo tan prestigioso como el que hay detrás de este importante Festival de Cine español.
Otro reto ha sido revisar las bases de los Premios Jerry Goldsmith. Había compositores que, a pesar de ya no ser jóvenes en edad, sí lo eran en espíritu, y se veían imposibilitados a participar en estos premios a razón de una bases que limitaba la participación a una determinada edad.
En los últimos años fuimos levantando la mano en este aspecto, y pensamos que a partir de la segunda etapa de nuestros “Jerrys”, a partir de pasar la década, debíamos revisar las bases y abrir estos galardones a todos aquellos que se sintieran jóvenes de espíritu y no solamente jóvenes de edad. Aquellos que quisieran ver potenciado y a veces descubierto su maravilloso trabajo, o aquellos que sintieran que estos premios son la representación clara de por que un día decidieron hacerse compositores de música para el medio audiovisual. Tal vez por el grandioso nombre que los apadrina, el gran Jerry Goldsmith, un compositor con un espíritu joven imperecedero.
Esta nueva y ilusionante era de los premios comienza ahora. Y lo hace con un año que ha sido ejemplar en el nivel de los participantes. Más de 110 compositores de tres continentes y más de 260 trabajos en las 11 categorías que este año conforman esta XI edición de los Premios Jerry Goldsmith, a la que hay que añadir el Premio al Mejor Compositor.
In a year where BSOSpirit Association begins its collaboration with the Festival of Malaga, and specifically with its new and exciting project, the Movie Score Malaga – MOSMA, we posed several challenges to achieve. First, give the awards a projection we’ve always wanted for them. And Malaga is the perfect place, thanks to the organizational skills and experience of such a prestigious team like the one that is behind this important Spanish Film Festival.
Another challenge was to review the bases of the awards. There were composers who, although no longer young in age, they were young in spirit, and they felt were prevented to participate in these awards because the awards limited participation to young age composers.
In recent years we were raising our hand regarding thisissue, and we think that from this second stage of our «Jerrys» once we passed our first decade of existence, we should revise our regulations and open these awards to all those who feel young of spirit when composing for the audiovisual media and not only of young age.
Those who would like to see enhanced, and sometimes to let their wonderful work be discovered. Or those who feel that these awards are a clear representation of that reason why, one day, they decided to become music composers for the audiovisual media. Perhaps because of the great name that sponsors this awards, the late great Jerry Goldsmith, a composer with an undying young spirit.
This new and exciting era for the awards, start now. And it does so, with an exemplary in regards of the level of its participants. More than 110 composers from three continents, and more than 260 jobs in 11 categories that this year conformed this XI edition of the Jerry Goldsmith Awards.

Con ello aprovecharemos para dar a conocer más en detalle vuestros trabajos y la calidad de los mismos. Los vencedores de las restantes categorías, así como el ganador del Premio Jerry Goldsmith al Mejor Compositor, se darán a conocer durante la gala que se celebrará el próximo día 1 de julio en el Museo Ruso de Málaga, en una bonita velada que tratara a estos nominados como lo que son, auténticos ganadores.
Estamos muy ilusionados. Y con ganas de disfrutar de esta nueva era de los Jerrys junto a vosotros. Aquellos que hacéis posible la existencia de estos premios con vuestra participación e ilusión. Una familia que año a año va creciendo y que cada vez mas, sujeta la bandera de lo que es el espíritu que comenzó todo. Un espíritu joven de hermandad en torno a nuestra pasión, la música para el medio audiovisual.
As part of MOSMA, this year we want to do something special for all of you. Firstly, winners will be announced in two different batches. On Monday, July 20, we will announce winners in the categories of:
- Best Original Soundtrack for Advertising
- Best Original Score for Promotional Works
- Best Original Score in Free Creation Form
- Best Original Song
- Parallel Universe
This will give us the opportunity to publicize your work, and the quality of it, in more detail. Winners of the remaining categories, as well as the winner of the Jerry Goldsmith Award for Best Composer, will be announced during the gala to be held on July 1st, at the Russian Museum in Malaga, on a beautiful evening that will treat all nominees, as what you are, real winners.
We are very excited. And wanting to enjoy this new Jerrys era with all of you. Those who make possible the existence of these awards with your participation and enthusiasm. A family that each year is growing, and that increasingly holds the flag of what is the spirit that started it all. A young spirit of brotherhood around our passion, music for audiovisual media.
